Kissed By A Song

This song is about the feeling you have when your mind drifts away while listening to a song. That feeling can feel similar to waking from a long and dreamy kiss. It’s a pleasant and dreamy experience.

This song blends both of these sensations into one. The song is a love, and it is also a woman, and it’s also the kiss. Hence, the song is called Kissed By A Song because that’s exactly how it feels when you wake up from letting your mind drift away to a song.

Of course, there is also the moment right after you wake up from letting your mind drift away, wondering when it will happen again. Listen to the song to see the song’s thoughts on that moment.

The Metaphor Of This Song

The song as a kiss and as a short love is the metaphor of this song. One of my goals in writing music is to write imaginative lyrics with interesting metaphors. Here are more of my songs with metaphors.

How I Got The Idea For This Song

I was walking and listening to music, and suddenly I noticed that I was somewhere I didn’t quite remember being. I literally drifted away. Or at least it felt like that in my mind. In reality, I was just half a block from where I started drifting away, but it was an incredibly pleasant experience to not think of the mundane things in my mind.

Similar Songs

This song combines a few of my other songwriting experiments. On one hand, it has a catchy and lively melody. On the other hand, it still has that 60s-folk style in the verses. Plus, the song still features interesting and imaginative lyrics and metaphors.

The closest of my song to this song is the Shakespeare Song and The One Who Didn’t which also feature a complex musical arrangement and thoughtful lyrics.

Song Lyrics

AM I late? ..she whispered.

“You tell time when to begin”

I wish I said – but kept things in

You’re a free spirit song.

Oh song, oh song, come back to me where you belong.

VERSE 1

You had me lose all space and time.

Sang, left, and love is gone.

You float back at your whim.

Between your visits, I listen to the wind.

VERSE 2

Your magic flow, oh it’s all show

You Miss the days you set my world aglow

You finally chose to come back to me

With me you are a melody.

CHORUS

“You tell time when to begin”

I wish I said – but kept things in

You’re a free spirit song.

Oh song, oh song, come back to me where you belong.

BRIDGE

Her sailboat is climbing beating waves.

But the storm is strong and her boat caves.

She’s sinking to the bottom of the sea.

Will she never return to me?

NEW-FINAL VERSE 3

Her music has been gone so long

My bated breath became a song.

It found her heart and made it soar,

And safely drifts her back to shore.

CHORUS

“You tell time when to begin”

I wish I said – but kept things in

You’re a free spirit song.

Oh song, oh song, come back to me where you belong.

VERSE 4

She woke like sleeping beauty – oh what bliss.

Like opening your eyes after a kiss.

She whispers – am I late to sing to you?

I finally say – life begins with you.
