THE ONE WHO DIDN’T – SONG INSPIRED BY BEETHOVEN’S 5TH SYMPHONY

THE STORY OF THE SONG

The lyrics of this song focus on the protagonist’s fear of ending up as “the one who didn’t” accomplish anything or amount to anything in their life. It’s a real, existential fear most people wrestle with.

One of the song’s themes is the echoing of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, which has the famous 4-note motif. That famous 4-note motif is a metaphor for life knocking on your door, and asking what you are doing with your life.

This version of the song is a second release of it. I released this song two years ago. This version of the song is much better produced, has a better music video, and a better vocal performance. It’s on my collection of songs about not giving up and of songs about life.

THE SONG’S ROCK STYLE

This song is done with a mix of heavy rock and classical elements. The vocal performance is in your face and intense. It’s similar to another recent release of mine, which is a frustrated rock song called Hitting Air.

If you like songs on more intense and darker themes, I have been fascinated by Leonard Cohen’s Who By Fire, which is a song about not being able to predict how you’ll die. I created my own cover of it. Here is that cover of Leonard Cohen’s Who By Fire.

Update To The Song

I updated this song, and improved my vocal performance and some of the instrumentation. Here is the link to the new version of the song and a longer interpretation
